BANGALORE: The wait for travelling on smooth roads in Jnana Bharathi campus (Bangalore University) continues. It has been two months since Home Minister R Ashok inaugurated the repair works on this road. There are no signs of this work being continued or completed. The conditions of the roads is back to what it was earlier.In the first week of July, Ashok along with BU V-C Dr N Prabhudev initiated the reconstruction work of four lane of 5.46 km stretch road. Also, a bicycle lane was planned. The entire project was estimated around Rs 12 crore.Mahesh, a resident of Chandra Layout and engineering student of RV College of Engineering said that he has to take the same route everyday to go to his college. “The condition of this road is hopeless. It is worse during monsoon.There are not just small potholes, but even craters are there. Two-wheeler riders often fall. Initially, when they started the work, there was some hope. But now, no more,” he added.A senior professor from one of the department from Bangalore University said, “When BBMP closed the pits we were very happy that repair work has been started, which was very essential. In the course of time, the work was stalled.Also, the uncertain rains in the city is making the condition chaotic.” Dr Prabhudev, BU Vice- Chancellor, said that BBMP officials have stalled the repair work due to monsoon.“During rainy season, there will be water logging and it is difficult to work during monsoon. State government has also given nod for the reconstruction. Work will not stop,” he assured.BBMP had set a deadline of nine months during July. However, BBMP Standing Committee (Major works) chairman, G H Ramachandra said that they had set three months deadline.“We will complete the work in next two months,” he promised.
