Pesudo Naxals held for extorting Rs 15 lakh

Police have arrested three extortionists who, posing as Naxalites of the Kondapalli Sitaramaiah Dalam, extorted Rs15 lakh from a builder at Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar in the city.

Those arrested _ Suresh, Ravi and Nagaraju, all residents of the city _ were produced in court and remanded in custody. The builder, Chandrasekhar, is a resident of BK Guda.

“During interrogation, the accused confessed that they posed as Naxalites for making easy money. The trio called up Chandrasekhar from Ameerpet and introduced themselves as members of the Kondapalli Sitaramaiah Dalam. They demanded that the builder pay them Rs 15 lakh and even sent a threat-letter to him a few days ago,” sub-inspector R Govind Reddy said.

The builder then brought the issue to the notice of the police who laid a trap to nab the offenders.
