Cooperation Minister B J Puttaswamy, a trusted lieutenant of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, has been accused of grabbing land allotted to the Ganiga community.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Mysore District Jyothipana Ganigara Sangha president Intek Raju said a Lokayuka inquiry has been demanded into the case. Releasing the land sanction letter and copy of the bye-law of the ‘Vishwa Ganigara Samudaya Trust’, a private trust founded by Puttaswamy, Raju said that Yeddyurappa had sanctioned 10 acres land for the entire Ganiga community following a request submitted at the Ganiga’s convention held during his tenure as the CM.
Puttaswamy had managed to get the land in Nagaruru Village in Dasanapura Hobli of Bangalore North taluk allotted to his private trust. An official sanction order for the same was issued on September 22 last year, he said. When questioned about the delay in raising the issue, Raju said that they were kept in the dark by Puttaswamy by keeping land documents or a copy of bye-law at bay from the community members.
On their future course of action, he said that they had written letter to Chief Minister and waiting for his reply. “If no reply comes, we will launch state-wide protest against Puttaswamy,” he said. Raju said that they have also sent a memorandum to former premier H D Devegowda, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah to set right the issue.
