New Delhi: Mobile handset maker Nokia Wednesday launched two new smartphones, the E6 and X7, with Symbian Anna user interface - an upgraded version of the Symbian software with a faster browser - refreshed Ovi maps and higher security.
"With the launch of two new devices on the exciting new Symbian Anna, we aim to further consolidate our leadership position in the Indian smartphone market," said Viral Oza, director marketing, Nokia India private Limited.
"With the Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7, and a robust line up of exciting new smart devices and user enhancements coming in the next few quarters, we are confident of further strengthening our smartphone user base," he added.
The company also said that Nokia will start shipping Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 with the new Symbian Anna software update starting this July.
By the end of August, existing owners of these devices can also download Symbian Anna. Over the next 12 months Nokia plans to bring up to 10 new Symbian-based smartphones to the market.
Nokia E6 is a touch and type qwerty phone equipped with Microsoft messaging experience including access to Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft Sharepoint.
Available in black, silver and white, the smartphone is priced at Rs. 18,679.
Nokia X7 comes equipped with an 8 megapixel camera and a 4 inch display. The smartphone is preloaded with Galaxy on Fire HD and Asphalt 5 HD games. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 22,829.
