Hyderabad: Alok Madasani, who got injured in Kansas attack in the US on Wednesday night, has been discharged from the hospital. He had received bullet injury on his thigh and will be bedridden for the next few days.
Alok's family back in Hyderabad was shocked to know of the incident. Speaking to CNN News18, Alok's worried father Jaganmohan Reddy said, "My son luckily escaped the bullets, but unfortunately, Shrinivas was shot at point blank. It was a usual outing for Alok and his friends, but at the restaurant, a man started saying - 'you Indians should not stay here and leave our country'. When they objected to racist comments, in rage, he opened firing."
After Donald Trump came to power in the United States, the concerns of parents in two Telugu states, whose children are either studying or working in America, have increased.
Jaganmohan Reddy said, "We are not happy with the current situation in the US. My appeal to all Indians is that they must ensure their own safety by not indulging in arguments. The situation which was 20 years ago is not the same now. The governments need to sit together and ensure such incidents don't repeat.
As fear and panic are gripping NRI parents community, Telangana NRI parents association will take up the issue concerning thousands of people from Telugu states with Ministry of External Affairs. The incident has left parents thinking of either not sending their children to the United States or considering calling them back.
