Bhopal: Following the brutal gangrape and murder of a student in Delhi, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided that only a lady officer will investigate rape cases. The government said that rape cases would be fast tracked the culprits would be punished within 45-60 days.
Madhya Pradesh government also decided that nine special courts would be set up in Indore, Jabalpur and nine other districts which are record a large number of crimes against women with the help of Madhya Pradesh High Court. The decision was taken in a meeting between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and High Court Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.
After the meeting Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that several important decisions have been taken to deal with rape cases. He said that medical reports of rape victims will be ready within 24 hours and the chargesheet would be filed within 15 days.
A database is also being prepared of those convicted for crimes against women, the chief minister said. He also said those indulging in sexual harassment would not get driving licence and passport and would also be barred from apply for government jobs.
