After a cameraman got hit by a stray tyre during the German Grand Prix last weekened, the FIA has decided to ban all media from the pit lanes during grand prix, website sportal.com.au reports.
The detached tyre from Mark Webber's Red Bull broke the cameraman's collarbone and ribs at Nuerburgring, which led to the formula one's governing body introducing new safety measures.
According to the new guidelines, only event marshals and team personnel will be allowed in the pit lane during races. The guidelines also make it mandatory for the team officials to wear head protection at all times, with the speed limit in the pit lane reduced from 100 kmph to 80 kmph.
But while the FIA has recommended for immediate implementation of the proposals, it requires approval from the World Motor Sport Council.
