Man throws acid on wife

PARADIP : Three women sustained serious injuries in an acid attack over a family dispute at Jagatsinghpur town on Saturday.Of the victims, Bijyalaxmi Nayak had married Bhagban Parida in Rourkela. She, however, had left her in-law’s place following alleged mental and physical torture and was staying at her parents’ place here.Bijyalaxmi’s husband along with his younger brother, Krushna Chandra and a colleague Satya Sahu reached the town on Saturday and tried to persuaded her to return to Rourkela but she declined.Parida then threw acid on her.Bijyalaxmi, her mother Gitajanli and grandmother Durlava sustained burn injuries and were shifted to district headquarters hospital. Meanwhile, Bijyalaxmi has lodged an FIR in Jagatsinghpur police station. The accused, however, are absconding.
