New Delhi: Noted educationist, Director and Principal of Delhi Public School, Bokaro Steel City, Dr Hemlata S Mohan, who joined the All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU) a few days ago, will contest Lok Sabha elections from Dhanbad.
The DPS Principal faces a tough contest as she takes on Bharatiya Janata Party's sitting MP Pashupati Nath Singh, Bokaro MLA Samresh Singh of the Jharkhand Vikash Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P), Congress's Ajay Dubey and former MP and TMC leader Chandrashekhar Dadai Dubey.
The other noted leaders in the fray are Marxist Coordination Committee's Anand Mahto, Bahujan Samaj Party's Ramadhir Singh and Sushil Singh of the Janata Dal United. The Aam Aadmi Party has put up Ramakant Verma from the seat.
Hemlata S Mohan, who joined AJSU on March 24 in Ranchi, was declared the party's candidate from Dhanbad two days later. She is a President Awardee, former Jharkhand State Women Commission chairperson and also a Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) Governing Body member.
She received the National Teacher Award for 2004 from the then President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
