BHUBANESWAR: Nishant Thakkar and Ganesh Parida of Loyola School, Bhubaneswar, topped the Indian Certificate of School Examination (ICSE) results in the State, while Somesh Mohapatra and Prabhu Prasad Swain of Cuttack’s SCB Medical Public School came a close second. Nishant and Ganesh who scored 97.71 per cent are reported to be toppers in the eastern zone whereas Somesh and Prabhu secured 97.6 per cent. The ICSE results were announced across the country on Saturday.Even though girls outperformed the boys at the national level, it was clearly the boys who performed well in the twin cities. The frenzy around the topper settled a few hours after the results were declared with reports coming in from different schools.The overall performance in the twin cities has been better than the last time. The top percentage in 2011 for the region was around 97.6 per cent.Loyola School vice-principal Fr Amala Doss was elated at the performance of his students and praised Nishant and Ganesh. Of the 228 students of Loyola School who appeared for the examination, 80 students scored above 90 per cent, 65 above 80 per cent and 34 above 70 per cent.Cuttack’s SCB Medical Public School also fared exceedingly well. Of the 109 students who appeared for the examination, more than 60 per cent scored 95 per cent and above. Principal Bidyut Ojha was more than happy with the results.Venkateswara English Medium School of the Capital also notched up good results. Its student Bishal Swain was among the State toppers with a 97 per cent score and followed by Swayam Sikha Srichandan who secured 96.29 per cent.The top scorer from Stewart School, Bhubaneswar, was Tara Prasad Mishra who secured 96.85 per cent. As many as 152 students appeared for the examination and the school registered a 100 per cent result with six students scoring over 95 per cent and 29 students scoring above 90 per cent, Principal Rashmi Rekha Senapati said. School topper Mishra was the Chief Minister’s Award winner on an environment project and was felicitated by British Council too.The results of Ruchika High School, Bhubaneswar, was very good. The top scorer from the School was Shaswati Sagarika who scored 96 per cent followed by Aditi Shatrupa with 92.86 per cent.
