HYDERABAD: The High Court on Thursday ordered issuance of notices to all the respondents named in the two writ petitions pertaining to liquor syndicates scam.A division bench comprising chief justice Madan B Lokur and justice PV Sanjay Kumar, after going through the report submitted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a sealed cover, appreciated the ACB authorities for doing a and sought another fresh report in three weeks’ time on further investigation.While dealing with two petitions, one of them a public interest litigation, the bench directed the state government to file a counter affidavit in two weeks and adjourned the case to April 16 to facilitate the respondents to file their replies to the notices.The petitioner, OM Debara of Hyderabad, sought autonomy for the ACB and prosecution of public servants accused of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.Besides, he wanted the court to monitor the investigation into bribes received by public servants and others from liquor syndicates in the state since 2003 and to ensure logical conclusion to the investigation which was being crippled by political interference.Another petitioner, PV Krishnaiah, a practising advocate, sought CBI probe into the liquor syndicates scam.However, the chief justice said that he cannot do that without sufficient material.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, excise minister M Venkata Ramana, transport minister B Satyanarayana, former minister for handlooms and textiles P Shankar Rao, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and others are among the respondents Respondents* Kiran Kumar Reddy* Mopidevi Venkata Ramana* Botcha Satyanarayana* P Shankar Rao* N Chandrababu Naidu* Chief secretary* Principal secretary* Commissioner of excise* State DGP* ACB DGP* Union home secretary* Vernacular dailies
