BANGALORE: Ministers from former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s camp reportedly confronted Chief Minister D V Sadandanda Gowda on Wednesday.They met Gowda over Central Empowered Committee’s letter seeking the state government’s response to the petition that sought a CBI probe against former chief ministers S M Krishna, Dharam Singh and HD Kumaraswamy.The probe was demanded in connection with the illegal mining.Ministers Umesh Katti, C M Udasi and MP Renukacharya who called on Gowda at his official residence Krishna reportedly questioned him on the delay in replying to the CEC’s letter.The CM is said to have told the ministers that the government was seriously pursuing the matter and details were being compiled to reply to CEC’s letter. Acting on the complaint filed by social activist T J Abraham, the Supreme Court appointed CEC had written a letter to the state government seeking its response to the complaint. Based on the state government’s reply, the CEC will decide whether a CBI probe against the three former chief minister is required.Following the CBI probe order, Yeddyurappa has been accusing the state government of deliberately trying to protect the three former chief ministers.The ministers told Gowda not to take an unilateral decision regarding the selection of party nominees for the six council seats, which are to be elected from the Assembly on June 11.“Take everybody, including, Yeddyurappa into confidence before finalising the candidates,” the ministers told the CM. According to the Yeddyurappa camp, any unilateral decision would lead to fresh problems in the party, which is already battered due to internal conflicts. The Yeddyurappa camp is planning to field former political secretary to the CM B J Puttaswamy and Chairman of Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Lakshminarayan.
