Judge assault case: Panel to submit report in 7 days
A judge was assaulted by a lawyer after he made adverse remarks in a case.

New Delhi: A day after a lawyer along with his colleagues manhandled a judge in the Rohini District Court, the Bar Council of Delhi on Thursday constituted a three-member fact-finding committee, which will submit its report within seven days.

Eminent lawyers, including Amarjit Singh Chandhiok and K C Mittal, will be on the committee, a notification for which was issued by Bar Council of Delhi Chairman, Ved Prakash Sharma.

Depending on the report, the General House of Bar Council of Delhi will take appropriate action.

The lawyers on Wednesday got agitated when Additional District Judge, Pankaj Gupta passed some adverse remarks in a matrimonial dispute case.

After the remarks, fuming lawyers, throwing court decorum to the winds, surged towards the seat of the judge and assaulted him.

The lawyers were reportedly agitated over a bailable warrant issued against a litigant by the judge. An unnamed FIR in the case was registered.
