Ryan Reynolds’ Goofy Post Shows Kids Helping Him Remove Deadpool & Wolverine Silicone Makeup
Ryan Reynolds shared a useful tip about how to safely remove special effects makeup and advised that kids should be kept away from tearing it apart.

Ryan Reynolds has been sharing spoiler filled updates on social media days after Deadpool & Wolverine hit theatres on July 26. While fans enjoy the film in comfort, Reynolds has often shared how he spends hours with the makeup team to apply silicone prosthetics for his unmasked scenes. In his most recent Instagram post, the Canadian actor recently shared a useful tip about how to safely remove special effects makeup and jokingly hinted that kids should be kept away from tearing it apart like a Christmas present. Seems like Reynolds’ advice comes from personal experience, as he overlooked this rule.

Reynolds posted several goofy pictures of himself and his kids tearing layers of makeup in a gruesome way. The actor wrote, “One thing special effects makeup artists will tell you, is to remove silicone appliances from your face slowly, with an array of oil-based products to avoid irritation or injury. NEVER rip it off quickly or have your children tear your face apart with their sticky little child fingers like it’s a Christmas present – if Christmas was about wondering how someone looks without eyelids.”

Although Ryan Reynolds usually keeps his children’s lives private, he has been openly speaking and making public appearances with them. Reynolds and Blake Lively got married in 2012, two years after meeting on the sets of Green Lantern. Together, the couple share four children, including James, Inez, Betty and Olin.

Months after the release of Deadpool in February 2016, the film’s makeup designer, Corso, revealed that applying the makeup took a total of 9 hours. Speaking with Hollywood Reporter, Corso said, “Ryan Reynolds’ transformation started with gluing his hair down and hiding it under a tight-fitting skull cap. A ghastly skull and veined underpaint was applied [over the cap] that would show through the thin, translucent silicone appliances, which were painted to match examples of extreme skin disorders. The closer you got, the more detail under his skin you could see. Ryan wore nine silicone prosthetic appliances when just his head was exposed.”

According to Box Office Mojo, Deadpool & Wolverine has exceeded the $1 billion mark globally. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first R-rated film has earned $494 million in the domestic market and $535 million internationally. It has become the second movie of 2024, after Inside Out 2 to cross the billion dollar milestone.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the superhero movie stars Hugh Jackman, alongside, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapicic, Aaron Stanford, Brianna Hildebrand, Tyler Mane, Rob Delaney, Lewis Tan, Jason Flemyng, Kelly Hu, Ray Park, Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Wesley Snipes, Chris Evans and Henry Cavill.
