New Delhi: The Central Information Commission on Thursday, slapped a fine of Rs 45,000 on the Indian Olympics Association in two cases for delay in furnishing replies to queries related to Commonwealth Games.

The queries pertained to expenses incurred on the domestic and foreign travels of Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi among other things.

Information Commissioner ML Sharma found a delay of 100 days in furnishing replies to an RTI application dated July 12, 2010 as a fit case for imposing maximum penalty of Rs 25,000 under the transparency law.

In his RTI application, activist SC Agrawal sought to know the budget details of the Indian Olympic Association for past five years and the role of the sports body in the Commonwealth Games held in October here, apart from Kalmadi's

tour expenses.

In another case, Sharma imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000 on the IOA for delay of 80 days in providing reply to the applicant.

Agrawal had demanded from the IOA the copy of contract it signed with overlays supplying firms among other details.
