IMD Predicts Heavy Rain In Mumbai on Wednesday; Red Alert For Thane, KDMC Says 'Step Out Only If Necessary'
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, moderate to heavy rain is likely in the city and suburbs on Wednesday. An orange alert has been issued for Thane, with a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had sounded red alert, predicting extremely heavy rainfall over central Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, on July 23 and 24 and over East Madhya Pradesh on July 23.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, moderate to heavy rain (yellow alert) is likely in the city and suburbs on Wednesday. An orange alert has been issued for Thane, with a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Taking note of the alert, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has advised residents to step out only if necessary.

West, Central, East and South Peninsular India FORECAST

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over the region during the next five days.

Orange alert: Very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Odisha from July 23-26; Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State from July 25-27; Coastal Karnataka on July 23; West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh on July 23 and 24; East Madhya Pradesh on July 24 and Kerala and Mahe on July 25.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated/some places over Odisha, Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka from July 23-27; Jharkhand, Vidarbha on July 23 and 24; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 23; Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from July 25-27.

NORTHWEST INDIA FORECAST

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and isolated to scattered rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-GilgitBaltistan-Muzaffarabad, West Rajasthan and East Uttar Pradesh during the next five days.

Orange alert: Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan on July 23 and 24 July and Himachal Pradesh on July 23.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan from July 23-27; West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu on July 23 and 24 and West Rajasthan and Delhi on July 23.

Hot and humid weather is likely over West Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. Above normal temperatures with high humidity are likely to prevail over Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the next two days.

Northeast India FORECAST

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning very likely over Northeast India during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on July 23 and 24; Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur from July 23-25. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya today.
