Four Indians in taekwondo quarterfinals
Four Indians advanced to the quarterfinals of Taekwondo competition in their respective categories.

Guangzhou: Four Indians advanced to the quarterfinals of Taekwondo competition in their respective categories in the Asian Games here on Thursday.

Latika Bhandari and Y Shantibala Devi entered the quarterfinals of women's 53kg and 57kg respectively while P Anand and Sandeep Kundu made it to the last eight in men's 80kg and 87kg.

Latika battled past Puthearim Chhoeung of Cambodia 11-10 in her second round bout while Shantibala thrashed Kezang Lhamo of Bhutan 7-0.

Laitka will now face Sarita Phongsri of Thailand in the quarterfinals later in the day while Shantibala will be up against Chinese Yuzhuo Hou.

In the men's section, Anand beat Eisa Alshammeri of Kuwait to set up a quarterfinal clash against Nabil Hassan of Jordan in the quarterfinals.

Kundu, meanwhile, got a walk-over in his second round encounter and will now face Akmal Irgashev of Uzbekistan in the last eight stage.
