Task Force sleuths arrested a 29-year-old former IT professional here on Wednesday for selling fake certificates of various courses. The police seized fake certificates, two mobile phones and photocopies of various documents from him.
Another accused, Madhu, is absconding. According to police, sleuths nabbed D Vijay Kumar for selling fake graduation, engineering, MBA and diploma certificates of Osmania University and other universities.
In 2009, he was introduced to Madhu, his neighbour, who undertook the forgery and circulation of fake certificates.
Since he had financial trouble, Kumar decided to earn easy money through illegal means. He started telling his friends that he has contacts in Andhra and Osmania Universities and can provide graduation, engineering, MBA and diploma certificates.
He then started collecting money (Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000) for providing the same. He would communicate the customers’ details and certificate requirements to Madhu, and after collecting the certificates, he would pay Madhu his share amount.
He provided about 50 fake certificates. Efforts are on to apprehend Madhu, who is a native of Bellamkonda in Guntur district.
Vijay Kumar, along with seized property, was handed over to the Mahankali police station for necessary action.
Kumar, a resident of New Balaji Nagar, APHB Colony in Kukatpally, completed his B.Tech (IT) at EVP Engineering college, Ponamalli, Chennai in 2006.
In 2008, he came to Hyderabad and joined Leo Laps company at Hi-tech City as a software engineer and worked there till the end of 2008. After that he worked in Airtel till 2010.
