MANGALORE: With the mesmerising sunset as a backdrop, a German citizen and his Australian sweetheart tied the nuptial knot at a simple Indian wedding ceremony held at Panambur beach on Thursday. A resident of Moers in Germany, Wolfram Wintzer and Australian-German Jacinta Essling entered into a wedlock according to Vedic traditions. A scientist-couple of Indian origin, Anjana Devi and Harish Parala, were largely instrumental in motivating the young couple to marry in India. The couple religiously followed the marriage rituals at a decorated stage erected specially for the occasion. The wedding ceremony was followed by a ‘Gana Homa’ and as according to the vedic customs the coy bride and the handsome groom exchanged garlands, as friends and guests cheered wildly. The marriage backed by the traditional instrumental Gatti Mela and cool breeze blowing from the Arabian sea added to the mind-blowing experience, visitors told  Express. Jacinta, born in Liberia (West Africa), said she met Wolfram while she was on an archeological assignment in Germany. After a courtship, the couple registered their marriage in Germany on October 8, 2011. An archeologist at a firm in Germany, Wolfram said he nursed a desire to make his wedding a special occasion and chose India. Both the bride and bridegroom confessed to being inspired by Anjana Devi and Harish Parala, their best friends from India.Jacinta works as a researcher in archeology in a university in Germany. The couple (both 37-year-old) said they were impressed with India and now had developed a special bond. The couple, along with their friends and family members, have been camping in India for the past two weeks.
