BHUBANESWAR: The first ODI between India and West Indies at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium may see dew playing a factor. With the deep depression over Arabian Sea affecting the moisture level, cloudy conditions were experienced on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said similar conditions may prevail during the first half of Tuesday, but by afternoon clear sky conditions are predicted. Chances of a shower are remote in Cuttack although certain western Odisha pockets may witness a spell of rain. The IMD sources said moisture content will be high in the atmosphere raising humidity levels. The maximum day temperature will be around 31 degree Celsius while the lowest will be about 21 degrees. “Such conditions rule out any possibility of fog but presence of dew will be palpable,” Director, IMD, Odisha, SC Sahu said.In view of the dew in the evening, the team batting second will have advantage since gripping the ball will be difficult for the bowlers, spinners to be precise. Since India are likely to play two spinners (besides the part-timers), the dew factor will be on skipper Virender Sehwag’s mind.In their last three outings at Barabati Stadium, India won twice chasing targets. In January 2007 when India last played West Indies here, they managed to defend a low total of 189 by bowling out the Caribbeans for 169.Of the 14 ODIs India played here, they won  nine, seven of them while chasing. Sehwag will be aware of this fact.
