New Delhi: The Delhi Police has waded into the standoff between the AAP government and the municipal corporation. The police on Friday wrote a letter to the Delhi government on the ongoing MCD strike.
A letter written by Delhi Police predicts total breakdown of law and order if the strike continues. The police say they fear breakout of an epidemic in Delhi.
They also fear clashes may take place if someone tries to remove garbage forcefully.
Police say traffic movement has been disrupted because of sanitation workers throwing garbage on streets.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court pulled up the MCD over the ongoing strike in the capital. The court said that it is the responsibility of the MCD to keep the national capital clean.
The MCD employees are protesting demanding payment of salary dues. This despite the Delhi government extending Rs 551 crore loan to the civic bodies for payment of salaries. The MCD employees are demanding a permanent solution to the problem.
