DHENKANAL: District Collector and Kendriya Vidyalaya Management chairman Bishnu Prasad Panda has refused to relieve two teachers who had been transferred to other states.Citing acute shortage of staff in the school, Panda said since no substitutes have been mentioned against these two teachers, they will not be allowed to leave. He has criticised National Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan (KVS) for showing apathy to Dhenkanal Kendriya Vidyalaya, which hampers activities of the school. The Sangathan is not paying any heed to the academic interests of students since long. Staff crisis has become a bane for the KV here. Nearly 12 teaching staff, including regular principal posts in various capacities are lying vacant, he added. The vacancies of non-teaching posts have also yet to be addressed.According to KV sources, 12 posts are vacant in Chemistry, English, Physics, Biology, trained graduates in Hindi, social studies and Lab section.Demanding that recruitments be made against the vacancies in teaching and non-teaching posts, Panda wrote to the New Delhi Commissioner of KVS.Three days ago, Parents Teachers’ Association secretary Satya Narayan Rath and several guardians had sought the intervention of Panda. The Association alleged that the quality of teaching has fallen drastically.Students faced many difficulties while appearing for the HSC and Plus Two (Science) exams, Rath said.
