HYDERABAD: PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has appealed to CPI MLA K Sambasiva Rao, who is on indefinite hunger strike demanding formation of a separate Telangana state, to call of his fast in view of his deteriorating health.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Satyanarayana said the 36-day-old Sakala Janula Samme drew national attention to the Telangana demand and the Centre noticed the seriousness of the issue. The Congress party high command and the Congress led UPA government started the exercise to find a solution at the earliest, he saidand urged all Telangana Congress leaders to cooperate with the central government in its efforts.He said in reply to a question that the party did not permit Telangana Congress leaders to join the TJAC but they were free to take up any programme to convey their feelings to the party high command.He also said that the party would not impose restrictions on T Congress leaders' activities. The PCC president said he had already condemned the arrest of Congress MPs who participated in the rail roko programme. "The MPs' arrest was very painful and I conveyed sympathy to them," Satyanarayana said and dismissed reports that some Telangana Congress leaders had complained to the high command against him for not condeming the MPs' arrest.He also recalled his appeal to MPs not to take part in ‘rail roko'. Satyanarayana appealed to government employees to call off their strike."Calling off strike is not a defeat and will not weaken the Telangana demand," he said and also appealed to Telangana ministers to resume attending normal duties.
