855 appear for Civil Services Prelims

PUDUCHERRY: A total of 855 candidates appeared for the All India Civil Services (preliminary) examination held at the Puducherry centres, Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Sellaperumalpet, Lawspet, and Government Women’s Polytechnic, Airport Road, Lawspet, here, on Sunday.Call letters were sent to 1,331 aspirants by the UPSC for the examination. Theva Nidhi Das, special secretary to the government, was the coordinating supervisor while S  D Sundaresan, joint managing director, Pondicherry Textile Corporation, was the assistant coordinating supervisor. Haje Kojeen, secretary to the government, was the observer for the conduct of the examination.The administration had made elaborate arrangement for the smooth conduct of the examination with special bus services  for the benefit of students from far-off places. An information centre also functioned at the new bus stand to guide the students.
