New Delhi: The Centre told the Supreme Court on Friday that it is preparing a “comprehensive mechanism” to block websites that host child pornographic content.
The government told the court that it had blocked 3,522 such websites last month and has asked the CBSE to consider installing jammers in schools to block content on premises. It, however, is possible to install the jammers on school buses, the court was told.
Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand told a three-judge bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra, that the government would file a status report on the steps taken by it to curb child pornography.
The court has asked the Centre to file a status report within two days.
The apex court was hearing a petition which has sought direction to the Centre to take appropriate steps to curb the menace of child pornography across the country.
