The Apollo Hospitals has announced that it will consider the new standards in the Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test conducted at Apollo Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic network across the country. A study conducted by Hyderabad based hospital chain has revealed that the international standards of (PSA) test, conducted to diagnose prostate cancer, are different from the PSA test standards in India.

The study was conducted on one lakh healthy male persons of different ages in India under the leadership of Prof. Sanjay Addala, Uro- Oncologist consultant, Apollo Hospitals.

“The study we conducted was biggest one India and it will assess the specific PSA standards based on the Indian population and based on the age. We conducted the study after collecting samples from the one lakh healthy male persons. We identified new PSA standards in disease diagnosis. We are confident that based on the study we conducted we will provide improvised treatment to the prostate cancer patients at last stages. The study is a crucial development in redefining the new age based specific PSA standards to the Indian male persons”, Prof. Addala said.

Speaking about the study, joint managing director of Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Sangitha Reddy said, “The study conducted by the Apollo Hospitals will bring key changes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer and treatment in India. It will help the cancer patients to win in the fight against the menace. We are going to change the protective structure from the prostate cancer with the different PSA standards in male persons of different ages, increase in the levels along with the age and Indian specific standards. This change will make easier to identify the prostate cancer in youngsters early. By adopting the specific standards Apollo Hospitals has been reiterating its commitment toward patient centric protection.”
