Eduardo has not featured for the Gunners since February.

New Delhi: Arsenal striker Robin van Persie expects that Eduardo's impending return from a near career-threatening injury is bound to charge up the side.

The 25 year-old has not featured for the Gunners since February when he suffered a horrific injury against Birmingham City but earlier today Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that the Brazilian-bred Croatian international is only weeks away from a first-team return.

"He is really important," van Persie told Sky Sports News.

"We were all really unhappy with what happened but I think he dealt with it really well and showed a lot of maturity.

"If you look at his finishing record, we need him."

Van Persie went on to comment on Arsenal’s impressive performance in Turkey last night, which consolidated their position at the top of Champions League Group G, with Arsene Wenger's young side in no way intimidated by the vociferous Istanbul atmosphere.

Given that Fenerbahce were unbeaten at home in European games for 15 matches spanning nearly three years, it was a stirring victory for the Gunners. They silenced the home crowd by scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes and went o to win 5-2, making Wenger a proud manager.

"I think things are going really well. If you look at the game against Fenerbahce on Tuesday, a really young side played in a really aggressive atmosphere and if you look at what they did it was quite amazing," he added.

"If you look at the past few weeks, the only thing we still need to do is be consistent in the Premier League because we have lost some points.

"But our game is so beautiful that hopefully we can win a trophy with this game this year."
