When Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tied the knot earlier this year, the entire world watched it. From Justin Bieber serenading the crowd at the Sangeet to a full-blown concert featuring legends like A.R. Rahman and Shreya Ghoshal; the three-day extravaganza was nothing short of spectacular. Popular celebrities from both Bollywood and Hollywood attended the wedding ceremony. Among others, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, John Cena, and even Kim Kardashian graced the event. But amidst all the glitz and glamour, one event stood out – a sacred ‘Yagna’ where the ever-inspiring Kailash Kher took centre stage.
In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Kailash Kher recalled performing at Anant Ambani’s wedding when he said, “There are many weddings but some are so grand and glorious that they also resonate with a bit of tradition. The wedding I attended had a theme of Shiv and Shakti. On that day, there was a yagna (sacred fire ritual), and during the yagna, I sang. God hasn’t chosen us just for entertainment; how fortunate I am that the Almighty has invited me. And it wasn’t just for light entertainment; I was called for divine devotion.”
When Kher performed his hit songs like “Bam Laheri,” the atmosphere shifted from serene to electrifying. “Several actors danced there,” Kher shared with a grin and then added, “It’s that moment when you forget yourself and come into a state of ease, into the devotion of God, and you realize that yes, I am just a simple unit. I am also just one unit, that’s all,” he mused, emphasizing the power of surrendering to the music and the moment.
Kher further mentioned how top Bollywood actors danced when he performed and shared, “There were several popular actors including Ranveer Singh and they were all dancing. Shah Rukh Khan was there too. Everyone was jumping with joy and dancing.
In a wedding full of dazzling performances and lavish displays, it was perhaps this moment of shared devotion that truly captured the essence of the event. “Our hearts dance and the body just moves as it pleases. The dance that matters is the dance of the heart; the mind is what truly dances. The real dance happens in our souls,” Kher concluded, offering a reminder that even in the most glamorous of settings, it’s the simplicity of connection and devotion that leaves a lasting impression.
