The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has recently shared the tentative schedule for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Under Graduate (NEET-UG) 2024 result on its website. The registration process for NEET UG counselling is slated to commence on August 14 and the last date, as per the notification, is August 20. This counselling process is for MBBS, BDS and BSc (nursing) students.
The official notification states that the counselling will be done in four rounds. The Round 1 registration process will begin on August 14 and conclude on August 21. The choice filling and locking facility will be available from August 16 and the last date will be August 20. Seat allotment will be done between August 21 and 22, followed by the declaration of results on August 23. Candidates will have to report or join from August 24 to 29. The verification process of candidates will be scheduled from August 30 to 31.
The second round of the registration process will be held between September 4 and 5. The seat allotment and verification step will be scheduled between September 11 and 12. Candidates with allotted seats will be permitted to join/report by September 14 to 20.
Registration for NEET UG counselling has to be done by visiting the MCC website mcc.nic.in. The counselling will take place for approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats in about 710 medical colleges across the country. Apart from this, it will also be held for 21,000 BDS seats, AYUSH and nursing.
NEET UG counselling will be held for 15 per cent seats of the All India quota along with 100 per cent seats of Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia and ESIC Dental College and Hospital.
As per the government records, the number of medical colleges in the country has seen an increase. In 2014 it was 387 and now it has increased by 88 per cent to 731. This has led to a 118 per cent increase in MBBS seats.
NEET UG Counselling Fee
For 15 per cent seats of All India Quota, the counselling fee for general category candidates for Central Universities – DU, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, AFMC and ESI, all AIIMS, JIPMER, BSc Nursing courses is Rs 1000. For SC, ST, OBC, and PWD candidates the fee is Rs 500. Reserved category candidates will have to pay a security fee of Rs 5,000 and the NEET UG counselling fee, while unreserved category candidates will have to deposit Rs 10,000 as a security fee. The application fee for medical, dental and BSc nursing courses in deemed universities is Rs 5,000. Also, security money of Rs 2,00,000 (Rs 2 lakh) has to be deposited.
