The 62nd Kerala State School Kalolsavam has commenced today at 10.30 am. As many as 14,000 students from across all 14 districts of the state will participate in the arts festival. The students will compete across 239 disciplines in two categories which are high school and higher secondary. It will be held at 24 venues, reported Onmanorama. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the event today, January 4. A gold trophy will be awarded to the district that wins the maximum number of points at the arts festival.
Education Minister V Sivankutty dedicated the main venue to the arts festival. The event, which is being held at ONV Smriti, consists of an area of 60,000 square feet. It can also accommodate around 10,000 chairs.

The gold trophy will arrive at the main venue at Ashramam grounds today at 6.30 pm and the public will be able to view the cup. Thereafter, it will be shifted to the district treasury, the news agency reported.
The procession of carrying the gold trophy began on Tuesday, January 2. It commenced at Kozhikode. A publicity campaign was also held for the arts festival on Wednesday. Furthermore, railway stations and KSRTC bus stands have opened special counters to receive students participating in the Kerala State School Kalolsavam. The govt has also arranged accommodation for the students across 31 schools in the city.
