Amid the time when EV culture is creating waves globally, the German carmaker Porsche invested an extra effort and turned the 911 Carrera GTS into a hybrid.

The newly added technology is a part of the mid-cycle facelift for the seventh generation 911, featuring the update in the GTS range only as yet. It has been reported that the company might transform its other model in the same category. However, the official details are yet to be released.

The latest updates bring a few enhancements to the model, making it more superior than ever. It also received a bunch of updates in terms of design from both inside and outside.

Engine, Battery and Power

The newly unveiled model is now powered by an impressive 3.6-liter straight-six turbocharged engine, paired with a gearbox-mounted electric motor, and has a compact liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. The whole unit makes it capable of producing an impressive power of 533 bhp and 610Nm of peak torque.

The overall output has been enhanced by 59 bhp and 40Nm compared to the previous model, which was powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder.

The 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox now has been equipped with an electric motor. The addition makes the model superior in the game. It contains a 1.9kWh lithium-ion battery and runs at a voltage of 400V. Porsche has also incorporated a lightweight lithium-ion battery for the 12-volt on-board in its electrical system.

Overall Kerb Weight

As per the details shared by the brand, the latest update makes the car heavier than ever. Now, the overall curb weight for the hybridized GTS is increased by 50kg, flaunting an overall weight of 1595kg.

Design

Talking about the design enhancement, the car has received some noticeable updates. Now, the latest model 911 on the generation comes with an improved headlight setup, featuring updated bumpers. The rear section also witnessed some nip and tuck improvements. Now it gets a bolder stance, offering LED taillights, which have been turned broader and deeper.

The customers also have the opportunity to choose HD matrix LED lights as well. It illuminates the road for more than 600 meters.
