‘He’s With Sika Now:’ WWE Universe Reacts To Roman Reigns’ Uncle Afa Anoa’i’s Death
Remembering Afa’s contribution to the wrestling world, WWE paid a heartwarming tribute to the Hall of Famer during their August 16 episode of SmackDown.

WWE superstar Roman Reigns’ uncle Afa Anoa’i passed away at the age of 81. A WWE Hall of Famer and one-half of the legendary tag team The Wild Samoans, Afa entertained wrestling fans for decades. Earlier this year, the world mourned the passing away of Afa’s brother Sika Anoa’i. Remembering Afa’s contribution to the wrestling world, WWE paid a heartwarming tribute to the Hall of Famer during their August 16 episode of SmackDown.

Several fans have now reacted to WWE’s tribute to Afa Anoa’i on X (formerly Twitter). Many were taken aback by the sudden demise of the wrestling icon. One of them pointed out how both Afa and his brother Sika Anoa’i departed in the same year. “Both of them are now no longer with us,” he wrote.

Another social media user commented, “That was a beautiful tribute!”

One added, “R.I.P. to Afa. May god be with you. He’s with Sika now.”

Another person observed, “Rip legend. You are always in our memory. Great wrestler.”

“I pray God, rest in peace. What a legend and Hall of Famer,” added one more.

Roman Reigns shared the news of Afa Anoa’i passing away on X today. Reigns wrote, “Our family has suffered another great loss with the passing of my uncle and WWE Hall of Famer, Gataivasā Afa Amituana’i Anoa’i. We thank everyone for their support and are comforted by the fact that he now rests in peace.” The former Undisputed Champion talked about Afa’s legacy as a part of the Wild Samoans. “Afa and my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i were loving brothers, the greatest tag team of their generation, and now they’re reunited together in heaven. Rest in Power Wild Samoans,” Reigns added.

Several reports had surfaced earlier on the declining health of Afa Anoa’i. The family had clarified the 81-year-old was still battling his condition but the situation became increasingly dire. The late WWE legend underwent heart and back surgery in May.

Afa Anoa’i and his brother Sika Anoa’i had formed the Wild Samoans tag team in the 1970s. The duo proved to be a formidable team, dominating the 70s and the 80s. Their fearsome in-ring presence spearheaded the Samoans to three World Tag Team Championships in WWE. They also made an impact on other wrestling promotions including the Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling and National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
