This will be Muizzu’s first bilateral visit to India since he assumed office in Male nearly a year ago. He had previously attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi in June.
During his visit, Muizzu is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and engage in discussions with PM Narendra Modi on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. He will also travel to Mumbai and Bengaluru to participate in business events.
During the same press briefing, Jaiswal also announced that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Governments (CHG) meeting, scheduled to take place in Islamabad on October 15-16.
Earlier in August, India had received an invitation from Pakistan to attend the in-person meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Governments (CHG).
