This Mobile Number Fetched Whopping Rs 7 Crore At Dubai Auction, We Are Not Joking
Among the items auctioned, one particular mobile number, 058-7777777 fetched a whopping AED 3,200,000 (approximately Rs 7 Crore).

Dubai, known for its lavish lifestyle and displays of wealth, has once again set a new standard for luxury. Recently, a significant number of wealthy residents of the UAE gathered for The Most Noble Numbers charity auction. In the UAE, items such as unique number plates and sim cards have become a status symbol among the country’s elite. Among the items auctioned, one particular mobile number, 058-7777777, saw intense competition among bidders.

Everyone had their eyes on the sim card and in the end, it fetched a whopping AED 3,200,000  (approximately Rs 7 Crore). Bidding for this number started with AED 100,000 (approximately Rs 22 Lakh) and the bids quickly reached AED 3  within seconds. Similarly, other numbers featuring number 7 also attracted the attendees.

The auction reportedly collected over AED 38.095  (approximately Rs 86 Crore) in total, while AED 29  (approximately Rs 65 Crore) was generated just from the sale of exclusive car number plates. Additionally, bids for Etisalat’s special numbers fetched AED 4.135  (approximately Rs 9 Crore), while du special numbers raised AED 4.935  (approximately Rs 11 Crore).

The auction featured a total of 10 fancy car number plates and 21 mobile numbers from telecom giants Du and Etisalat. The proceeds from this auction were dedicated to supporting the Dh1-billion Mothers’ Endowment campaign initiated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “What’s the point of paying so much for it to be leaked to the entire world?”

Another wondered, “What is the obsession behind numbers? I don’t get it.”

An individual wrote, “People got so much money, they spending on expensive SIM cards now.”

“When you don’t know what to do with your money,” a comment read.

Another joked, “I will keep calling that number till the buyer drop commission for my end.” A user shared, “Waste of money, even though you can do what you want with your wealth would rather give this to the poor eating from the garbage instead.” One more wrote, “Dubai is not for beginners.”

Last year, the Dubai number plate auction witnessed the plate ‘P7’ fetching AED 55 (approximately Rs 124 Crore).
