Olympic Medalist Yusuf Dikec's 'Swag' Has Anand Mahindra's Attention
Turkish sharpshooter Yusuf Dikec won a silver medal in the mixed team 10-meter air pistol shooting at the Olympics 2024.

At the age of 51, Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec took the internet by storm by claiming a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. But it is neither his age nor his silver-medal haul that made Dikec an overnight sensation. It is his seemingly standard pair of glasses and casual body language that thrust him into the limelight. Shooting in a T-shirt with one hand in his pocket, DIkec seems to have defined a new minimalistic approach towards sports. Dikec won the medal in mixed team 10-meter air pistol shooting at the Olympics 2024. Industrialist Anand Mahindra has now reacted to Dikec’s “Swag” and shared an appreciatory note for the Olympic medalist on X (formerly Twitter). “SWAG. This man just explained the meaning of the term to us,” read the post shared by Mahindra.

Anand Mahindra’s post went viral instantly drawing reactions from viewers.

Reacting to the post, one social media user cheekily commented that Yusuf Dikec had “purposely gone for the silver medal to avoid suspicion.”

“Salt and pepper hair, a casual t-shirt, no eye-gear, a casual side pose, hands in pocket, focused look – and booom, bull’s eye,” read one response.

Another person hilariously wrote, “Should be illegal to exhibit so much swag during your job. Top confidence!”

This social media user felt that Yusuf Dikec “woke up this morning and decided to show up at the Olympics and won the medal.”

Echoing a similar sentiment one more X user wrote, “Funny, he just came as regular dude in cool glasses, hand in pocket. dude attitude.”

Some were still in awe of Yusuf DIkec’s confidence and body language. As this person commented, “One pointed focus, the key factor in accomplishing a goal or a target. I’m in awe and respect. That’s really a SWAG!”

Here are some other reactions.

Yusuf Dikec, along with Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, bagged a historic silver medal at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. It was Turkey’s first-ever medal in the Olympic shooting. But Dikec seems unfazed about all the talks surrounding his performance and casual approach. Instead, he wants to focus on the next Olympic games, scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. “I hope next in Los Angeles (for) a gold medal,” Dikec was quoted as saying by news agency AP.S

Yusuf Dikec might have triggered a huge discussion in global sports but he is certainly no alien to competitive sports. He has taken part in every Summer Olympics since 2008.
