Heavy Rains Cause Chaos In Bengaluru, Traffic Advisory Issued
Heavy rains in Bengaluru led to severe traffic snarls, prompting the city’s traffic police to issue urgent advisories.

Bengaluru woke up to a waterlogged mess as heavy rains lashed the IT hub early this morning, turning roads into rivers and causing major disruptions. The downpour led to severe traffic snarls, prompting the city’s traffic police to issue urgent advisories. In a series of posts on the microblogging platform X, Bengaluru Traffic Police shared videos of the flooded streets, altering commuters to the challenges ahead as several routes become impassable.

A particular 16-second clip captured the aftermath caused by the heavy rains, showing cars and trucks navigating through the flooded Hebbala Flyover, creating waves as they passed. The Bengaluru traffic police shared a “Traffic advisory,” on X, stating “Slow-moving traffic due to Water logging at Hebbala Flyover Upper ramp towards City And Hebbala Flyover Down ramp towards Airport, Kindly cooperate.”

Social media was flooded with photos and videos of the tech city’s roads submerged after the heavy rains, revealing vehicles struggling through the floodwaters and causing widespread traffic disruptions. One user posted an image on X showing long lines of vehicles caught in the traffic, captioned, “Manic Monday #Bommanahalli Bengaluru City Traffic.”

Another video depicted traffic police working to clear the clogged roads and alleviate the waterlogging issues. Additionally, several trees were uprooted in various areas. The traffic police shared these images on social media, urging residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.

Many social media users voiced their frustration over the city’s infrastructure as they grappled with the challenging conditions after heavy rains.

One user remarked, “This is where our tax money goes to India’s IT HUB. Smooth road with a fine layer of water for a comforting journey. Space technology is at its best in Bengaluru this morning. #BengaluruMonsoon #BengaluruRains.”

Another shared, “Haha, wonderful! Pay property tax, and road tax, and then get your car damaged due to driving through knee-deep waters. Get it repaired and pay further GST on that. No escape.”

Someone raised a critical question, asking, “The public will always cooperate.. when will the authorities operate?”

A comment highlighted the chaos, “Flooded roads along with Monday peak office hour traffic is bound to throw life out of gear in Bangalore today. #bangalorerains.”

A person sarcastically asked, “How to “co-operate”? Bring swimsuits?”

Criticism continued to pour in with one commenting, “What do we get for paying taxes.”

Another shared, “Taxes are paid for freebies. Please continue with that. Cities can choke but free bus rides are available. So what if buses can’t move in such roads.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a week of rain for Bengaluru. The city is anticipated to see light showers until August 15, with heavier rainfall expected to begin on August 16 and continue through August 17, according to the weather department.
