Healthcare Professionals Share Dying Patients’ Last Words. Internet Thinks Its ‘Creepy’
It all started with a Reddit post asking doctors and nurses to reveal what they heard from patients on deathbeds.

In the quiet corners of hospital rooms, where life slowly fades away, often something inexplicable happens. It has been observed countless times that doctors and nurses are the ones who will hear the final words of individuals on their deathbeds. From funny anecdotes to haunting revelations, some moments stick with healthcare professionals for life.

A social media user, in his curiosity to know about such instances, dropped a question on Reddit. The user wrote, “What were the creepiest last words you heard from a patient right before they died?”

The post triggered a flurry of reactions online as people shared their creepy experiences.

Recalling an extraordinary instance, a person said, “Surgeon here. A man on his deathbed kept repeating, ‘The body is in the woods next to the oak tree,’ until he passed. The police were notified, and a search began around some woods behind the man’s house, but they never found anything.”

“My mom was watching over my grandfather in the hospital. He had been unresponsive for a day or so, when suddenly he said, “It’s about damn time you got here! I have been waiting!’ And then he died,” shared another.

Sharing another patient’s heartbreaking last moments, an individual wrote, “I work in a cardiac ICU. We had a patient who had a pulmonary artery rupture. One minute he was joking around with us, and the next moment he was spewing bright red blood out of his mouth. His last words before he died were, ‘Why is this happening to me?’ It still haunts me years later.”

A Reddit user shared a couple of instances that stick out in his mind. The first one was about an 83-year-old woman who said, “My mom’s here. Are we going?” and died a few minutes later.

In another gripping and definitely the creepiest tale, a user revealed how an elderly patient admitted seeing a man dressed in black just moments before she breathed her last.

“An old lady told my CNA she wanted to wear all white. When asked why, she said, ‘The man in black is here’ looking in the corner of the room. The CNA looked, but there was no one there. That’s when I came into the patient’s room,”

When asked to describe what she saw, the patient said, ‘He is in all black, and he has got a top hat on. Then she whispered that his eyes were red, while her eyes moved across the room like she was watching him move closer to us. She died later that night. But it was unexpected.”

These confessions are proof that health professionals have to undergo a great level of mental and emotional pressure beyond their usual duties.

Nurses and doctors become silent witnesses to the profound emotions that surface when life is at its most fragile.
