Czech tennis players Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova have been in the headlines since they won the gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the Paris Olympics. The victory, however, was not the only reason behind their rapid popularity. Following their historic achievement, several media reports claimed that Machac and Siniakova had broken up before featuring at the mega sports event. Even if the news was true, it hardly made any impact on their on-field bond. After winning the gold medal match at Roland Garros, Machac and Siniakova celebrated emphatically by hugging each other.
The duo was asked about their current relationship status during the post-match press conference. Siniakova refrained from making any direct comment. Instead, she sarcastically said, “That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that. We like it when you are confused.” Machac also had the same view about the topic as he added, “This is top secret. In red letters, top secret.”

Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova dominated the mixed doubles game at the Paris Games. Their final match against China’s Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen turned out to be dramatic. Machac and Siniakova thrashed their Chinese opponents in the first set, 6-2.
Wang and Zhang made a comeback, in the next set, with 5-7. Machac and Siniak looked more composed in the tie-breaker. They were the first pair to claim 10 points, which ultimately sealed the deal.
Katerina Siniakove, recognised as a doubles specialist, was on cloud nine after bagging her second Olympic medal. She featured in the women’s doubles event at the Tokyo Olympics and won the gold medal, pairing up with Barbora Krejcikova. Siniakova has claimed nine Grand Slam doubles titles in her career and Krejcikova was her partner on seven occasions.
Earlier this year, Siniakova appeared at the French Open with USA star Coco Gauf and the duo emerged victorious at the Roland Garros. The Czech star replicated the success at Wimbledon where she played with Taylor Townsend. “I showed myself that I can play well with anyone and I should be more proud of myself,” she said after wrapping up the Paris campaign.
Meanwhile, Tomas Machec partnered with Zhang Zhizhen at several Grand Slam events. They played the semi-final of the Australian Open together in January.
