The food delivery platform Zomato marked its 16th birthday last week. While we saw the top executives of the platform celebrating the day with school kids, the company also organised a spirited roast titled “Zomato Birthday Bumps.” CEO Deepinder Goyal and Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder and CEO of Blinkit (quick commerce owned by Zomato) gathered with Zomato staff to enjoy comedians poking fun at them in a lighthearted manner.
In one such performance, comedian Swati Sachdeva took the stage with a series of playful jabs. She began her roast by thanking the platform and Goyal for giving comedians a stage to perform. However, she couldn’t resist poking fun at Zomato, jokingly expressing her concern, saying, “Bas mujko es baat ka dar hai ki kahi aap log eski bhi platform fee na kaat lo (Now, I just have this fear that they don’t increase platform fee for this as well).” This jest comes from Zomato’s recent 20% increase in platform fees, raising it from Rs 5 to Rs 6.
She turned her attention to Zomato’s rain surge charges, humorously questioning their application even on cloudless days. “Your product manager runs to the terrace to check if there are clouds and apply rain surge,” she quipped drawing chuckles from Goyal and other employees in the audience.
Sachdeva then directed her humour towards Blinkit CEO Dhindsa questioning the logic behind adding the handling charges to grocery orders. She humorously pointed out that if someone is delivering groceries, handling them should naturally be part of the process.
The video wraps up with another of her epic jabs where she jokingly suggests that the employees use Zomato tape to fix their torn notes. Sharing the video, Sachdeva wrote, “Delivered a roast to Zomato, handling charge lete hai toh handle kar hi lenge (If they take handling fees, then they can handle this as well).”

A person declared, “This was blockbuster Swati Sachdeva,” while another user enthusiastically wrote, “Girl Best Stand up Comedian Award goes to.”
Even Blinkit joined in on the fun, commenting, “Aise jokes handle karne ke liye toh lena hi padega na handling charge (To handle such jokes, we definitely need to charge a handle fee).”
Sachdeva wasn’t the only star of the show, other comedians such as Gaurav Kapoor, Samay Raina and Shreeja Chaturvedi also took part in the roast.
