Microsoft to take on Google Chromebooks with $149 Windows 10 laptops: Report
The speculated device by Microsoft is said to carry a price tag of $149 and feature Intel's cheaper but successful Bay Trail platform.

New Delhi: The growing popularity of budget Chromebooks by Google has seemingly threatened Microsoft, which is why the software giant is reportedly developing affordable laptops that will run its upcoming Windows 10 OS.

The inexpensive laptop is likely to carry a price tag of $149 and use Intel's Bay Trail platform which is a low power processor with a size of 11.6-inches. However, Google is already offering larger 13 and 15-inch size in its Chromebooks.

A report in the Forbes stated that these laptops are targeted primarily towards emerging markets, education and the super-low end market where the tasks are limited to web browsing, word processing and social media use.

Earlier this month, Google rolled out its Pixel Chromebook-its answer to the latest Apple MacBook- complete with a USB Type-C connector. The laptop has been priced at $999. Google Chromebooks sell for as low as $199 and if the rumours are to be believed, we could soon see an even cheaper model by Microsoft in direct competition with Google.
