Lava Blaze Curve 5G With Curved AMOLED Display, Ad-Free OS Launched - Impressions & More
Lava has launched its newest 5G smartphone, the Blaze Curve 5G, in the Indian market. Here's everything you need to know about it, along with our initial impressions.

Lava, the homegrown Indian smartphone brand, has expanded its 5G smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Lava Blaze Curve 5G. From my initial usage, the device appears to be promising thanks to its well-rounded combination of hardware and software features. These include a curved 120Hz AMOLED display, a clutter-free Android experience, and Widevine L1 support.

Lava Blaze Curve is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chipset, comes with a responsive in-display fingerprint scanner, and has a solid set of internals for the price. Read on for all the details.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G: Specifications And Features

The highlight of the device is its 6.67-inch FHD+ Curved AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and has a peak brightness of 800 nits. It also supports HDR, HDR 10+, HDR 10, and carries Widevine L1 certification for users’ media consumption needs.

From my limited use, the display seems sharp and vibrant. However, it isn’t that bright in outdoor sun, but gets the job done. Coming to the performance, as mentioned earlier, the Blaze Curve features the 6nm-based Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which you also find in the Lava Agni 2. The SoC is coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of on-board storage.

For optics, it houses a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a third 2MP macro shooter. For selfies and video calls, you have a 32MP front camera. From our initial testing, the camera seems decent for the price, but it has a tendency to blow out highlights. It can record videos in a maximum resolution of 4K at 30fps.

To power it all, you have a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33W quick charging, and yes, you do get the compatible charging brick in the box. And, on the connectivity front, you get 5G support with the following bands: n1/n3/n5/n8/n28/n41/n77/n78.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Price In India

The Lava Blaze 5G starts at Rs 17,999 in India for the 8GB+128GB variant, and goes up to Rs 18,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant. The device will be available on Amazon, Lava E-store and Lava Offline Retail Network.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G: Initial Impressions

After almost a week of testing, there is very little to fault with the device. The software experience is refreshing for its price—devoid of ads and bloatware. The standout feature is the software, distinguishing it from its competitors. While still running on Android 13, Lava has promised two OS upgrades to Android 14 and Android 15, along with three years of security updates.

The hardware is also decent—the performance is quick, the battery lasts a full working day and more, and the design is notably premium for its price. Handing the phone to my mother, she estimated its price to be around Rs 35,000, which does highlight the phone’s design appeal. The curved front and back panels, though inconvenient for some, and me, contribute to its aesthetics, and the weight distribution is well-executed. We have some reservations about the camera system, but a detailed review will be available soon.
