Rashmika Mandanna is rumoured to be marrying Vijay Deverakonda soon. Reports have claimed that Rashmika and Vijay, who first worked together in Geetha Govindam, could be getting engaged in February. However, their representatives told IANS on Tuesday that there is no truth in these claims. While fans are still keeping an eye out on the rumours, this is not the first time that Rashmika has been in the middle of wedding news. For the unversed, Rashmika was once engaged to renowned Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty. But, the engagement was called off.
The reason behind their split is still unknown and Rashmika has chosen to not delve into that aspect of her life in the media over the years. However, a reporter had once attempted to ask about the failed engagement at an event in 2019 but Vijay Deverakonda shut down the question almost immediately. As reported by India Today, Rashmika and Vijay were promoting their film Dear Comrade when a reporter mentioned Rakshit, asking her about her past.
Vijay jumped in and shot down the question. “I don’t even know your question…but it is no one’s business. Like I am giving an answer. I don’t even understand the question…how is it anyone’s business,” he said.
Rashmika made her acting debut with Rakshit Shetty in Kirik Party and shortly after that, they got engaged. The photos from their engagement in 2017 had made headlines. However, in 2018, the engagement was called off. Last year, Rakshit opened up about Rashmika and said that he is still in touch with her.
During the promotion of ‘Sapta Sagardaache Ello: Side A’, Rakshit said, “Yes, Rashmika and I are still in touch. She had a big dream in the world of cinema. Accordingly, she is moving towards that dream. She has the will to achieve the task she set out to do. We should pat her on the back for her achievement.”
