With the stalwarts of Indian cricket bowing out, it’s time for the youngster to step up and carry the legacy forward. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja called it time for T20Is after lifting the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. On the other hand, the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe will see some fresh faces coming to the fore. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel is one of the five uncapped players to receive a maiden T20I call-up.
Before flying to Zimbabwe he shared a picture of his blue Indian jersey with a few lines in Hindi, quoting his father.
पापा हमेशा कहते थे…“करें मेहनत दिल लगा, सपना हो साकार,कदम चुमें तब सफलता, जीवन हो गुलजार,सपना हो साकार तब, सतत लगन से काम।”

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals shared a photo of Riyan Parag’s jersey with a caption reading, “You made it, Riyan.” The Assam all-rounder, who represents the RR in IPL and shares the dressing room with Jurel, is another uncapped player who was named in India’s squad for the Zimbabwe tour.

Earlier, uncapped all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour due to an injury. The BCCI named Shivam Dube as the replacement last week, adding that Reddy is currently being monitored by the cricket board’s medical team.
Punjab youngster Abhishek Sharma, who represents SRH in the IPL, and CSK fast bowler Tushar Deshpande and the other uncapped players are set to fly to Zimbabwe for the T20I series.
Shubman Gill will lead the team on the tour and will be joined by Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan. All four of them were named as the travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are the ones from India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad.
India’s squad for the tour of Zimbabwe:
Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande.
