SJ Suryah is one of the noted actors and directors of the Tamil cinema industry. He started his journey in the entertainment industry as an assistant director to filmmaker Vasanth. He also served as an AD in superstar Ajith Kumar-starrer Aasai. It was directed by Vasanth and starred Ajith Kumar in the lead role. SJ Suryah’s fans know that his directorial debut was Vaali, which was released in 1999. Most fans are unaware of the fact that SJ Suryah also played a brief role in the movie Aasai. He played an auto driver in the film. Ajith played an army major in the movie, who fell in love with his sister-in-law. The movie gained massive success and was later remade in Bollywood as Pyaar Zindagi Hai in 2001. During the shooting of Aasai, SJ Suryah narrated a film story to Ajith. The actor loved the script and decided to work for the same. That became SJ Suryah’s debut movie titled Vaali. It became a blockbuster at the box office. It went down as one of the most successful films of Ajith Kumar.

During a festival meet earlier this year, actor Marimuthu revealed that during SJ Suryah’s AD days, he carried a puppy dog from Chennai to Delhi for the shooting of Aasai. He said that, SJ Suryah travelled in the unreserved coach to deliver the puppy dog at the shooting location. In the film, Ajith used to carry that same puppy dog. After the success of Vaali, SJ Suryah directed some blockbuster movies such as Kushi, Anbe Aaruyire and Isai. The director made his acting debut with the movie New. He was last seen in the movie Jigarthanda DoubleX. He also played the lead role in the blockbuster movie Mark Antony.
