Watch: Rajinikanth Greets Fans Outside His Residence, Wishes Them A Happy New Year

We all know that Superstar Rajinikanth enjoys a hysteric fan following, undying love and adulation in Tamil Nadu. Over the years, he has established himself as the most endearing star of Tamil cinema and his popularity has transcended borders. His fans never miss a chance to catch a glimpse of their favourite star and the humble and down-to-earth star often obliges them. This time too, Rajinikanth took some time out of celebrating New Year with his family to greet his immense fan following.

He met his admirers outside his Chennai home in Poes Garden, as is customary every year. He gave them a wave, expressed gratitude with folded palms, and wished them a happy new year. A video of him wearing a white kurta pyjama, blowing kisses and waving at his fans has gone viral on social media. In the video, his fans could be heard screaming, ‘Thalaiva’ to get his attention. Rajinikanth, who turned 73 on December 12, decided not to jet off to a foreign location to celebrate New Year as most stars do and instead chose to spend the day with his wife, Latha, daughters and grandchildren while taking a break from the shooting of his upcoming Vettaiyan.

Rajinikanth halted the shooting of his film Vettaiyan a few days ago when he returned to Chennai to pay his last respects to his colleague and friend Vijaykanth who passed away after a prolonged illness on December 28. He has since stayed back to celebrate New Year with his family and will return to the shooting schedule of the film shortly. Recently, a clip of him and Fahadh Faasil from the shooting spot was leaked online.

Lyca Productions is the producer of the action film Vettaiyan, which was written and directed by TJ Gnanavel. Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan are among the ensemble cast members in important parts. Anirudh Ravichander scored the soundtrack for the film, SR Kathir handled the cinematography and Philomin Raj handled the editing.
