Sooraj Santhosh said that he has been the target of relentless cyber attacks for the past two days.

Malayalam singer Sooraj Santhosh has reportedly resigned from the Singers Association Of Malayalam Movies (SAMA) after accusing the organisation of not extending support while he was under cyber attack. Recently, the singer criticised the Indian singer KS Chithra, after she requested that her fans should recite the Ram Mantra during the inauguration ceremony of Ram Mandir on January 22. After this, Sooraj Santhosh criticised the singer. This did not go down well with many. In his recent Facebook post, Sooraj Santhosh said that he has been the target of relentless cyber attacks for the past two days.

Sooraj Santhosh has sung more than 300 songs in 8 languages till now. He performs with his band, Sooraj Santhosh Live.

In the latest Facebook post, Sooraj Santhosh wrote that he had been the target of trolls before, but this time “it has turned more vicious and abusive, crossing all limits”. He further said that he would take legal action against the perpetrators. Sooraj Santhosh further said that his fans give him support and courage to fight against the people who don’t believe in democracy. “My heartfelt thanks to each one of you for standing for justice,” wrote Sooraj Santhosh. After reading his message, the fans appreciated the singer and called him brave. Most of the users expressed unity and said that they supported him in this cause. “Strong support for your brave approach against fundamentalist ideology,” commented one of the users.

The whole issue started after singer KS Chithra – who is popularly known as The Nightingale of South – uploaded a video and appealed to her fans to chant Ram mantra during the opening of Ram Mandir on January 22. Several celebrities criticised this move by the singer. Sooraj Santhosh reacted to Chithra’s appeal and uploaded an Instagram story, in which he wrote, “The highlight is the innocence of the people who say ‘Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu’, conveniently forgetting the history, putting aside the fact that the temple was built by demolishing a mosque.” He further asked KS Chithra about the number of idols that are needed to be broken to open the Ram Mandir. “How many more KS Chithra will show their true colours? Pity”, he added, as quoted in India Today report.
