Pongal is celebrated with great enthusiasm in many parts of India. This is a four-day-long festival. This year, this festival will begin on January 15 and end on January 18. However, no celebration is complete for movie lovers without watching movies. On the occasion of Pongal this year, many films are going to be televised on television.
1. Leo
Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Leo is all set to be telecast on Sun TV on January 15 at 6:30 p.m. This action thriller film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Seven Screen Studio. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand and Mathew Thomas in pivotal roles. Leo was a huge hit at the box office and also emerged as the second-highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
2. Jigarthanda DoubleX
Jigarthanda DoubleX, written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, will also be released on Sun TV on January 16. This action drama film is a spiritual successor and prequel to Jigarthanda (2014) and stars Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan in important roles.
3. Kazhuvethi Moorkkan
Arulnithi-starrer political action drama Kazhuvethi Moorkkan will be aired as a Pongal special film on Kaniyar TV and will be released on January 15. The film was written and directed by Sy Gowthama Raj and received positive reviews from critics.
4. Iraivan
Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara starrer psychological action thriller film Iraivan will also be aired on Pongal on TV. The movie was directed by I Ahmed and produced by Sudhan Sundaram and G Jayaram under the banner of Passion Studios.
5. Jawan
Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara-starrer Jawan, directed by Atlee, which grossed over Rs 1,148.32 crore globally, will be aired on Zee Tamil TV on January 14.
6. Paramporul
This Tamil-language crime thriller, Paramporul, featuring R Sarathkumar and Amitash Pradhan in the lead roles, will be telecast on Vijay TV on January 14 at 3 p.m.
7. Maamannan
Udhayanidhi Stalin’s political drama Maamannan will be telecasted at 5:30 p.m. on Vijay TV. Maamannan was released on June 20, 2023. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed Rs 52 crore.
