The Captain Miller pre-release event was the first mega event organised in Kollywood after Vijayakanth's death.

Dhanush’s upcoming film, Captain Miller, set to hit theatres on January 12, is generating immense anticipation among audiences. To heighten excitement, the makers recently organised a grand audio launch event at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on January 3. Attended by the film’s cast and crew, including Dhanush, Priyanka Mohan, and director Arun Matheshwaran, the event also paid tribute to the late legendary actor and politician Vijayakanth, who recently passed away due to pneumonia and other illnesses.

Remarkably, the Captain Miller pre-release event was the first mega event organised in Kollywood after Vijayakanth’s demise. The team observed a two-minute silence in the entire arena to pay respects to the deceased actor. They paid tribute to Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar, whose brother Shiva Rajkumar plays a pivotal role in the film.

In a heartwarming moment, Dhanush, when asked to sing for the fans, chose the iconic song Raasathi Unna from Vijayakanth’s film Vaidehi Kathirunthal. As he began singing, the entire stadium joined him, creating a perfect tribute to Captain. Dhanush modified the song’s lyrics, replacing the word Raasathi (Queen) with Raja (King) as a respectful gesture to Vijayakanth.

Addressing the film at the event, Dhanush stated, “The one word that defines Captain Miller is labour. It is made with blood and sweat. It is a film that was made by putting lives at stake. When the first single was released, you would have heard the line, ‘Do you believe in ghosts?’ That ghost is Arun Matheshwaran. He has put so much hard work into the film that I am embarrassed to say that I’ve also worked hard. The team took care of me like a flower, taking all the pain for themselves."

Captain Miller is gearing up for a clash with highly anticipated films like Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Karam, Hanu Man, and Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayaalan on January 12.
