Opposition parties want Andhra DGP removed
Opposition parties of Andhra Pradesh have written a letter to the EC.

Hyderabad: Stepping up their campaign seeking the ouster of Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police SSP Yadav, opposition parties on Monday shot off yet another letter to the Election Commission of India requesting it to replace Yadav.

"We are terribly distressed to bring to your notice the high-handed behaviour, partisan and vengeful attitude, nepotism and corrupt practices of the DGP. Yadav is a man of strong likes and dislikes and he goes to any extent to protect his self-interest and in the process and in the process could successfully cause a split in the police hierarchy, marginalising many and favouring a few leaders," TDP, TRS, CPI and CPI-M said in a letter to the EC.

"Law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh touched its all-time low in the last four-and-a-half years while under the current DGP, the system has collapsed in toto. By his acts of commission and omission, Yadav caused severe heartburn and indiscipline in the police hierarchy," the letter says.

The opposition parties claim that if such an officer is at the helm of affairs during the General Elections, he would naturally go to any extent to favour the ruling party by perverting the end itself.

"In order to conduct a free, frank and fearless election and in the larger in interests of electoral process and democratic polity, we request you to kindly replace the DGP forthwith," the parties urged the EC.

The Opposition leaders gave a detailed description of the alleged acts of omission and commission of Yadav during his career in the state police service to establish his "dubious and partisan attitude".

TDP leader K Ramamohan Rao, CPI-M leader Y Venkateswara Rao, CPI leader K Ramakrishna and TRS leader N Narasimha Reddy were signatories to the letter.
