Narendra Modi to address his last Parivartan Rally in Bhagalpur, NDA leaders to counter Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Lalu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address his fourth and last Parivartan Rally in Bhagaplur in eastern Bihar on Tuesday. Modi's public engagement, coming just 48 hours after the Swabhiman Rally organised jointly by the Janata Parivar and Congress at Patna's Gandhi Maidan, will be used by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance to target both Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad .

While NDA is yet to finalise the seat sharing but its leaders have fanned across the state to lure Bihar voters by highlighting the Rs 1.65 lakh crore “package” announced by Modi at a rally in Arrah on August 18 which was countered by Nitish Kumar’s promise of investing Rs 2.7 lakh crore in various schemes.

Modi has already a addressed rallies in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Arrah and Saharasa in the run-up to the Assembly elections in Bihar which are scheduled to take place in October-November. The term of the current Assembly ends on November 29.

The Janata Dal United-RJD-Congress alliance has already decided on the seats. While JDU will contest 100 seats, RJD will have 98, Congress 40 and Samajwadi Party 5. Initially both the JDU and RJD were to contest 100 seats each and three were left for the Nationalist Congress Party but the Samajwadi Party, which has a negligible presence in Bihar but is part of the Janata Parivar at the national level, made it clear that it wanted on some seats.

NCP, on the other hand, has been miffed after it was offered just three seats and decided against joining the alliance. Lalu finally brokered a deal with Samajwadi Party and gave it five seats – two from RJD’s quota and three earmarked for the NCP.
